Quoth St. Maximus the Confessor: “They who are knowledgable in such things say that the sheep… excretes 365 pieces of dung each day. So the rational sheep, the human being, if indeed he has striven to offer himself as a sacrifice to God… excretes, each day, 365 pieces of dung, that is, those things which are subject to time and becoming he casts away each time as perishable and superfluous” (St. Maximus the Confessor’s Questions and Doubts, trans. Despina Prassas, pg. 50-51).
As a religious household, committed to keeping the Augustinian precept of being “intent upon God in oneness of mind and heart,” you can imagine the amount of toilet paper we go through.
Yours in Christ,
