My province of the Dominicans holds a “Come and See” each fall and spring as an opportunity for young men to discern their vocations with our Order. They come here to Saint Louis and spend a weekend in the priory, sharing in our prayer life and listening to a number of informational talks about discernment or religious life as a Dominican. We go through the history of the Order, our vows, our “four pillars” of Dominican life, and some other talks about things like discernment.
Obviously, with my lack of a social life, I was an ideal candidate to give the talk on “study” as one of the four pillars of Dominican life, which is as follows:
