Fox-Hunting and Nostalgia

Dear Readers,

Is it a significant problem that I very much would like to go fox-hunting? Maybe if I wanted to do so after a nice glass of sherry served horse-side? Admiring His Lordship’s manor house?

Isn’t that magnificent?

Who wouldn’t be thus enraptured?

Ah – the English have a way of making you nostalgic for a life you’ve never had.

Yours in Christ,

Br. James Dominic, OP

Do you suppose that you, like I, were born in the wrong place at the wrong time? I would have made a splendid nobleman in 19th Century England.

If you were born then, you’d probably – ironically – end up being an oppressed peasant wishing you lived as a future-ly friar
