Critical Humor

Dear Reader,

I love seeing humor in the Roman curia, and especially in technical documents.

In a response by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments to the English translation of the ordination rites as they were proposed in 1997, I found a rather funny line that I must share.

In the last numerical point, the writer notes the following:

"If the poor need a house, feeding will not bring one"

They’ve got tigers’ blood. Winning.

On a similar note, at the end of a paper I recently submitted for publication, I end with the line: “Thus, my paper makes clear that if species essentialism is not upheld in regard to the species taxon, natural selection is no longer a viable theory and the terrorists will win.”

Great minds, of course, think alike.

Yours in Christ,

Br. James Dominic, OP
